7 days abroad our wonderful Tuscany

Looking for ideas during your Tuscan stay at Hotel Certaldo? Here is a 7-day itinerary we thought just for you! Good advice from Tuscan people!

Day 1: Certaldo and Canonica Hill Park. Arrival at Hotel Certaldo. The room is available from 2pm (reception open 24/7). In case of early arrival you can check-in and leave your luggage at the Reception and relax at the poolside or by the hall. Visit to the medieval town of Certaldo Alto, only a few minutes walking-distance from our Hotel and easily reachable also with the funicular in Piazza Boccaccio. From the medieval town you can walk (sport clothing needed!) to the beautiful Canonica Hill Park, from which you can enjoy beautiful Tuscan views of hills and cypress-lined paths! From here you can walk back to Hotel Certaldo, or if you prefer, drive from here to Certaldo Alto and to Canonica Hill Park.

Day 2: San Gimignano and Volterra. The renowned San Gimignano is only a 10 minutes drive away from Hotel Certaldo, and from there, only a few minutes away lies the Etruscan city par excellance: Volterra. To reach this beautiful city, we advise to go by car, or alternatively, with a taxi service which you can request at the Reception of Hotel Certaldo.

Day 3: Florence. Hotel Certaldo is only 50 minutes away from the most famous Tuscan city! We advise to go by train, the railway station is only 5 minutes away on foot and hourly routes are available, both for one – way or round trips. The trip lasts roughly 50 minutes, and you will be getting off in the main train station, Firenze Santa Maria Novella, right in the center of the city. From here the main city highlights are reachable on foot. At our Reception desk you may find many city maps, and our Staff will be glad to suggest you the best walking itineraries to fully enjoy this wonderful city! You can also reach Florence with your car, the main parking available to visit the town centre is the one beneath the railway station Santa Maria Novella, or book a taxi at the Reception of Hotel Certaldo. Florence awaits!

Day 4: Siena and Monteriggioni. Siena is another Tuscan pearl, at only 35/40 minutes from Hotel Certaldo. During the same day it is also possible to visit the quaint Castello di Monteriggioni, still boasting today the virtually intact city walls. You can reach these beautiful places by car, or also by train, though the railway stations of Siena and Monteriggioni are not in the town centre and you will need a further mean of transportation to reach the city center. Alternatively, taxi service can be booked from our Reception desk at Hotel Certaldo.

Day 5: the Chianti. The Chianti area is a quite vast hilly area lying between Florence and Siena. Traveling through Chianti, famous for the very same wine, it is possible to visit several characteristic towns of Greve in Chianti, Panzano in Chianti, Radda in Chianti, Vertine, Castellina in Chianti, Gaiole in Chianti, Castelnuovo Berardenga. In the area you can also find many stunning castles: Castello di Brolio, Castello di Meleto, Castello di Spaltenna, Castello di Verrazzano. We advise to travel by car or by taxi that you can book at our Reception desk at Hotel Certaldo.

Day 6: Pisa and Lucca. Pisa and Lucca are also two very important cities of Tuscany, which you can visit from Hotel Certaldo. It is possible to reach these cities both by car and by train. Pisa is famous in the whole world for the square Piazza dei Miracoli and the Leaning Tower, while Lucca, more discreet and elegant, is usually less known by tourists and is definitely worth a visit!

Day 7: Vinci and San Miniato. These two towns are also very close to Hotel Certaldo and it is possible to visit them in one day. Albeit small, the town of Vinci has been the birthplace of the worldwide famous genius Leonardo da Vinci, and features today the Leonardian Museum dedicated to the scientist, with many of his works reproduced and fully functioning! Not far from Vinci lies the town of San Miniato, famous for its precious and tasteful truffle, the main gastronomical highlight of the area!

At your return after a long, hot day of walking and sightseeing, our lovely pool, open 24/7, will be waiting for you to relax!
